So, bourbon drinkers have probably heard about Pappy Van Winkle, that near mythical whiskey that liquor stores can’t keep in stock. It’s apparently very rare and rated very highly with the critics. This has caused a significant upgcharge on it at the bars that still have it in stock.
I was recently at a bar with some friends and they actually had it available. So, we had to try it. Did it live up to all the hype?
In a word, no. It tasted more like gasoline than whiskey. If I wanted a bourbon that tasted like gasoline I could have bought five bottles of Bookers for what one shot of Pappy Van Winkle cost.
If you have the chance to drink Pappy, skip it, unless someone else is paying.
